We all know how beautiful the Alps are, so just imagine flying through them. If you’re new to paragliding, a tandem flight with an instructor is the easiest way to experience the thrill of free-flight, and if you’re experienced you can just make use of the ski lift infrastructure to get access to the most amazing take-off spots.

There’s no need to tell you what (downhill) skiing is all about, but if you’d be in doubt, the Alps have some of the most beautiful slopes the world has to offer. Obviously, some of those can get very busy during the peak periods. So if you’re looking for some calmer, relaxed ski resort in the Alps, here’s a few: Vallorcine, Les Orres, Aussois & Vars.

Unlike some other snow-covered parts of Europe, sledding through the Alps can get pretty physical. The constant ups and downs will make sure you get your workout done. Steering the dogs and sled in the right direction is quite the challenge too, but so worth it. Go on a long ride with the whole family at an easy pace or go for a fast and short session if that is your preference.

Between March and May is when the time is right for a Grand Ski Tour, usually. If you’ve got the experience and the physical shape, these multi-day journeys on skis are incredible adventures that’ll take you through large stretches of the Alps. Most go from hut to hut, in higher mountain terrain. The Chamonix to Zermatt Haute Route may be the most famous one, but there are plenty of other options too.

Originally driven by a steam locomotive, this electric rack-and-pinion train is one of only 5 of its kind in France. A unique experience that’ll take you back in time while you go up to an altitude of 1903 meters. The trip between Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and the Montenvers tourist site only takes about 20 minutes, but the memory will last a lifetime.

Its sober granite façade, authentically warm interior, incredible views over the Mer de Glace and Drus peaks, and its culinary delights make it an unforgettable and unique escape, for skiers and non-skiers alike.
