Leather — Craft Comes First

Leather — Craft Comes First

In a world that moves fast, we believe in taking the time to do things right. For over a decade, Bellerose has partnered with a family-owned leather workshop in Warsaw, Poland; a place where tradition, craftsmanship, and durability come together to create authentic and long-lasting pieces.

Each product begins with a meticulous, hands-on process. From the careful curing of the hides to the cutting, shaping, and assembling by skilled artisans, nothing is rushed.

The workshop combines time-honored techniques like dyeing, stamping, and tooling with modern technology, ensuring that every detail is considered.

Leather is a material of strength and character by nature, and in the hands of this team it's transformed into beautiful, premium items.

What makes our leather pieces stand out isn’t just the way they’re made, but how they live. We work exclusively with high-quality leather that ages gracefully, developing a rich patina over time — a testament to both its quality and the life it accompanies.

From bags to belts, each design balances functionality with Bellerose’s understated style, offering wardrobe staples that are built to last, and to be cherished.

To get an even better understanding of what happens behind the scenes, we reached out to Kasia, product manager and one of our main contacts at our Warsaw workshop.

Hi Kasia, can you briefly introduce who you are and what you do?

I started working in the family business 17 years ago, which is something I’d always wanted. At work, I draw not only on my passion for accessories and team management, but also on my education and initial experiences in environmental protection with regards to sustainable development and waste management.

How long have you been active in the world of leather items and accessories? How has the industry evolved in that time?

The company was founded in 1982 by my father, so it goes without saying that a lot has changed since then. Primarily the emergence of many new leather finishing technologies and new machines that allow for faster and better production. Our customers' awareness of sustainable production is also changing for the better.

What is something you wish people would understand better about leather bags and accessories?

In most cases, the production of accessories is more labor-intensive than the production of clothing. Despite technological advancements, many steps are still performed by hand, which is why these products are expensive.

Ideally, I would like as many accessories as possible to be made of natural leather, which is a waste product from the food industry, and at the same time the most durable and noble raw material. These accessories are often the ones you can hold on to forever.

Our company logo is the rune of Dagaz, which symbolizes new begginings, but also reflects our attitude towards the balance we seek in this world.

Do you remember how you started working with Bellerose, and what’s your take on the brand?

Bellerose was actually recommended to us by another Belgian brand we work with, back in 2012. So we went to your headquarters in 2013, showed our products and it all worked out. We really like Bellerose's style, it's totally unique. In each collection, we are surprised by new ideas, colour combinations and textures. For us, it's a great learning experience.

What’s your go-to leather bag?

My favourite bag which I am wearing every day is a very old Bellerose bag, style Selvy :) It is big, made with fullgrain vegetable leather and it is also woven with leather so I can feel real artisan work in it.

Thank you!
