New Balance sneakers for women, men and kids

The New Balance models

Each model has its own silhouette, materials and purpose. Here's how to tell them apart.

New Balance 530

A retro running silhouette with a breathable mesh upper, suede overlays and an ABZORB cushioned midsole. The New Balance 530 for women is the easiest place to start: light, comfortable and simple to style. Browse the full New Balance 530 selection.

New Balance 740

Inspired by running, with an open-knit mesh upper, a segmented midsole and angular overlays. A clean line that works with almost anything. Browse the New Balance 740 selection.

New Balance 9060

The boldest model in the edit: a chunky sole with ABZORB cushioning, mesh and leather overlays, and a visible stability bar. The New Balance 9060 for women gives a simple outfit instant character.

New Balance 2002R and 1906R

Two technically inspired silhouettes, pairing mesh with suede or synthetic overlays, and a soft, cushioned feel designed for walking.

New Balance 204L

A slim, low-profile shape in mesh, with raised overlays and leather details. The most understated pair in the selection.

New Balance 574 and 327

Two suede classics. The 574, one of the brand's heritage models, pairs suede with mesh on a wider sole; thanks to its unisex sizing, it doubles as a New Balance 574 men's shoe. The 327 combines a suede upper with a reworked running silhouette and its oversized N logo, a favourite among New Balance women's trainers.

Understanding New Balance numbering

Every pair carries a style code, shown on the product page, for example U530SCW. The prefix tells you who the shoe is for: U for unisex sizing, W for women, M for men and G for kids. The number then identifies the model family, and the final letters refer to the colourway. The number alone won't tell you how two pairs compare: a 204L and a 9060 belong to different families, each with its own construction.

Size and width fittings

Most models in the selection come in unisex sizing, shown in EU sizes. Your usual size will suit most feet. For a snugger fit, go down a size; for more room, go up one. If you're between sizes, choose the larger one.

New Balance also makes some models in several widths, marked with a letter:

• B: the standard width for women's models.
• D: the standard width for men's models, wider than B.
• 2E and 4E: wide and extra-wide fittings for broader feet.

The models in the Bellerose selection come in standard width. Size for size, a men's model therefore feels slightly roomier than a women's one.

Materials and care

Mesh, suede and leather make up most of the models, and each needs a slightly different approach. A gentle brush after every wear removes dust. Avoid the washing machine: a little mild soap in lukewarm water, applied with a soft brush on mesh and a damp cloth on leather, is all it takes. For suede, a suede brush or eraser lifts marks without damaging the material.

Clean the soles with a brush, or use a melamine sponge on stubborn scuffs. Always let your trainers dry naturally, away from direct sunlight and heat, stuffed with paper to hold their shape. A protective spray applied before the first wear helps keep water and stains at bay. Find every step in our trainer care guide, and explore more brands with our adidas sneakers.
