As a brand that champions innovation, we were thrilled to partner up with Collectible – the cutting edge Brussels based design fair – for their 8th edition. Moreover, we got to collaborate with emerging Parisian designer and architect Pauline Leprince, giving her full creative freedom to reimagine and design the fair’s entrance scenography. The result was a thought-provoking installation made of draped denim Bellerose fabrics. We reached out to Pauline to learn more about the story and inspiration behind it all.

For Collectible 2025 you designed an installation with leftover Bellerose denim fabrics. What’s the story and the idea behind this collaboration?

Pauline

This scenography was born from the shared idea of redefining our relationship with materials by creating a space where each element has its own story and value. It explores the mythology of functionality through a poetic reinterpretation of materials. The denim scraps become not only efforts in sustainability, but also symbols of intrinsic beauty tied to their use.

Each element of the installation challenges the very notion of functionality, suggesting that objects are not merely there for utilitarian purposes but also to awaken reflection on their value and history. Thus, design rises to the level of storytelling, where each piece becomes an ode to transformation and reinvention.

The idea was to transform visitors into active participants in a vibrant dialogue, confronted with the question of functionality beyond conventions. They are invited to reevaluate their perceptions of objects and to celebrate a symbiosis between the individual, the material, and the universe, thus restoring the place of the mythology of functionality in our lives.

What inspired the installation?
Is there a specific meaning or message attached to it for you?

Pauline

I think this project conveys a strong message about sustainability and reinvention. It emphasizes that functionality is not limited to practical use but can also evoke emotions, reflections, and connections. The installation invites visitors to rediscover their relationship with objects: it is not merely about acquiring goods but understanding their history and impact on our environment.

In summary, it’s an ode to transformation, a celebration of the beauty of materials, and a call to collectively reflect on our role in the consumption chain. It is an invitation to value functionality beyond conventions and to rediscover the hidden potential of what surrounds us.

Fashion and design are intertwined in so many ways. What’s the link between both for you?

Is there a connection between the way you dress and the way you design, for example?

Pauline

For me, fashion and design are radical expressions of creativity, closely intertwined. My style, characterized by minimalism, influences my design practice. Each piece of clothing I wear is carefully chosen, revealing a pure and direct aesthetic, free of excess, yet also provoking questions.

This minimalistic approach emphasizes the importance of functionality while celebrating the essence of materials. Thus, my way of dressing becomes an extension of my creative vision, a reflection of my values, and a means to interrogate our relationship with form and meaning in our environment.
